Venetian Plasters
Believe it or not, the term “Venetian Plaster” is a common misconception! "Venetian plaster" is American-made term to explain the variety of different techniques and materials used to create the polished stucco finish. The term is mainly used by architects and designers in the U.S. Venetian Plaster is a finishing technique using thin layers of plaster applied with a spatula or trowel and then burnished to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture. This finish is unique in that it can be rendered to have no physical texture, but outstanding visual texture. These can be sealed to be water repellent and can be coated with an acrylic wax to be grease resistant to include applications in the kitchen backsplash area.
The highest quality plasters will become more beautiful and attain more depth over time, and the surface will continue to harden as well. Poor quality plasters will lose their lustre after a few years. LaDecor only uses the finest quality imported plasters, TexSton Veneciano, Marmolino, and Antico.
